(Editorial
Continued) This, from a company who
previously carried a replica Winchester M-62 slide-action .22
rimfire as their closest thing to a cowboy firearm.
And indeed, there were no less than four firearm companies
replicating the Colt Lightning.
Who would have of thought this possible four or five years
ago?
In
addition to the new lines, many of the old stand-bys like Cimarron,
Taylor's & Co., and Navy Arms, are bringing out new lines,
styles, and calibers that one would have to have been fluent in
crystal ball to have seen coming.
Stainless steel sixguns, rare repeaters like Taylor's
Spencer in original .56-50, small-framed sixguns for the kids and
ladies, and now even lead-free frangible bullets to make the sport
safer.
Is there no end?
I hope not!
If there is one thing to be learned from this and similar
shows, is that you, the Western-action shooter, are a very
significant, driving force in the firearms and equipment industry.
Don't let anyone tell you that CAS is a small-potatoes
enterprise.
If it weren't for us there would be precious little in the
way of new material for the American shooter.
Traditional
modern leather companies like DeSantis Leather and Galco displayed
great looking western leather, and ammo manufacturers like Ultramax,
MagTech, Black Hills, Winchester, and PMC now carry cowboy action
lines of ammo made specifically for the CAS shooter.
And look at the folks that are tapping into the cast bullet
market.
With the likes of Meister bullets and Cast Performance
Bullets in Riverton, Wyoming, as well as the above mentioned
SinterFire frangible bullet company, the people who make up
Western-action shooting in all its forms are demanding and getting a
lot of attention in the form of great new and improved shooting
products. And they just keep getting better and better!
Don't let any of your non-cowboy action shooting friends
tell you that cowboy shooting isn't a big deal.
It looks like a lot of the "big boys" seem to think
otherwise.
