(Editorial
Continued)
If you are a physically disabled shooter, we encourage you to
submit an article to us on how you got started and the
particulars about how you carry, handle, and shoot
cowboy firearms. We
would like to publish more of these articles to
encourage others to participate.
You might
consider having a special match for the physically
challenged only. Set
up a special field trip to your range where shooters
with disabilities can come out and shoot a few stages.
This will also help you work out scenarios with
considerations for those handicapped shooters who wish
to compete more effectively in the categories they
chose. I
sometimes wonder if it wouldn't be appropriate to
recognize separate categories for physically challenged
participants at the state, regional, national, and world
championship shoots.
They could then have the choice of competing in a
regular class or in the handicap class.
However it works out, I challenge each and every
club to actively develop and implement a program for
acquiring more physically challenged shooter
participation. By
the way, if you do make such presentations to those
locations as described above, give me a call.
I would be glad to provide back issues of
magazines for each attendee and the supporting hospital
or organization.
Happy
trails,
Chucky
