(Editorial
Continued) Spirit of the Game should not
only embody our sport, but also be something we incorporate into
our everyday lives. It
is similar to doing "the right thing."
Spirit of the Game should be an integral part of the
feeling of comradeship our sport fosters, and it should be
something we demonstrate every day, whether on or off the firing
line. The Cowboy
Way is all about helping others by being polite and considerate
while still getting the job done.
I appreciate each and every
club that is now giving out their own Spirit of the Game award,
and encourage clubs that aren't doing so to start.
In order to further encourage the Spirit of the Game
attitude, Shoot! Magazine is
hereby announcing the Shoot! Magazine
Annual "Spirit of the Game Award."
We will be accepting letters from you, our readers,
nominating worthy candidates.
So, if you know someone that you feel embodies this
spirit, send us a letter describing in detail why you feel the
person should receive the award.
We will then pick a winner after reading and evaluating
each letter. The
winner will receive a plaque with their name on it, along with
the letter or letters that were sent in about them published in
the magazine, and may receive other prizes yet to be determined.
These prizes may include gunleather, a knife, or a
firearm.
We at Shoot! Magazine encourage all of
you to be looking for that cowpoke or cowgirl at each shooting
match you attend who exemplifies the term "The Spirit of the
Game" so you can send in a letter commending their enthusiasm
and loyalty.
