DAVID JOHNSON
of D Bar J Hat company - He has been instrumental in providing many
of us with the cowboy hat of choice. D Bar J Hat Co. has even been
recognized by the State of
Nevada Arts Council
for its historic art (see Vol 19 Nov/Dec 2002 issue.) Much of the
equipment is over 100 years old and was still used every day until
he could no longer work. He had to curtail his business due to
extensive health problems 2 years ago when he nearly died. He now
has no real income though his business is quasi being operated by
his friends while he lives with his mother. You can contact him at
(702) 430-0681 if you want to give him some support by thanking him
for what he has done over the years.
GORDON
DAVIS
- He has supported cowboy action shooting for years and is an
outstanding leather maker. He is great person and will give his
right arm for a friend. His health and financial condition are very
poor and he deserves our help. Gordon had been struggling with
diabetes. He ended up in the hospital a couple of times during the
process of making the special gun rig for this year's raffle but he
finally got it finished. Unfortunately, Gordon’s condition has
recently become much worse. He had to give his tools and shed up to
pay for his back rent, he can’t stand up and work anymore and is
hoping to get social security. He has many friends that are helping
him and is living with his son and daughter in-law. This year's
gun rig may be one of the last he will ever make.
GLEN WILSON, aka
the Paloduro Kid - has been a previous beneficiary and on the
heart transplant waiting list for some time. He fell off the waiting
list due to health problems, but has finally got his insurance
straightened out and the system is progressing as he is now back on
the list. They are hopeful that he may get a new heart by January of
2007. He has only one open artery at the moment. The others have
closed up since the bypass surgery 12 years ago. He can’t work and
his wife Rita who has asthma only works a few days a week as a
secretary. There have been church garage sales and other fund
raising support such as his local cowboy action shooting club, but
they are still in desperate need of your support and prayers. His
youngest daughter works, his oldest is in college, and they are
planning on selling their house. Though they have had many trials,
with more to come, they have a positive attitude due to the support
of friends and people like you. |
